How the calculator works
This simple tool estimates your weekly, monthly, and yearly savings when switching from petrol or diesel to an electric vehicle. Just enter your current weekly fuel spend and select your fuel type. The calculator then estimates how far you drive per week and compares the cost of driving that same distance with an EV.
Where the data comes from
The calculations are based on average fuel cost estimates as of Q2 2025 from the Sustainable Energy Authority of Ireland (SEAI):
- Petrol: €10.63 per 100km
- Diesel: €8.99 per 100km
- Electric: €3.37 per 100km
These values represent typical running costs and are intended for comparison purposes only. Your actual savings will depend on your vehicle model, driving habits, and local fuel and electricity rates.
